Ethereal Confections, started by chocolatiers Sara Miller and Mary Ervin, is the adventurous chocolate lover's delight! With a genius for interesting flavor fusions, their bean-to-bar chocolates are crafted to tell a 'mutli-note story'. And boy are those stories delicious!
We included our favorite flavored chocolates in our February Food Box: Blood Orange & Vanilla Bean Meltaway Bar and Strawberries + Rose Petals + Pink Peppercorns Inclusion Bar. These delightful chocolate bars are a treat for the senses, both visual and gustatory and will intrigue and tantalize your tastebuds. They will, ofcourse, have you clamoring for more!
Sara and Mary opened a real brick and mortar store in 2011. So if you are ever in Woodstock, Ilinois, do check out their quaint and cozy cafe.
Sara Miller: My favorite thing about being a small business owner is the ability to create a working culture of your own, one that you yourself would want if you were working for someone else. I enjoy hiring new employees, getting to know them over time and investing into them and their futures.
Mary Ervin:I love meeting and collaborating with other business owners. It gives me an excuse to visit restaurants, breweries, distilleries, coffee roasters, etc. and taste awesome food and drinks. It inspires me to create new flavor combinations with chocolate and think of new items to serve in our cafe.
Sara: You can find me at home in Kenosha, Wisconsin with my husband, stepchildren, and cats. I'm very low key so I'm probably cleaning the house, running errands, cooking, or if I have some spare time, reading a book.
Mary: When I'm not creating something delicious in the chocolate shop, I'm at home cooking something delicious for friends. When I want to get outside, I'm tending my butterfly garden or hanging out with my miniature horse, Butterscotch.
Sara: Flight. That way I could get where I need to go faster!
Mary: Time travel. I want to know the answers to the mysteries to the world and learn about lost cultures and traditions.
Sara: I have two Bachelor's degrees, neither of them related to what I do now: one in Political Science and one in Interior Design.
Mary: A not-so-fun, but surprising fact about me is that I'm allergic to chocolate.
Sara: My favorite dish is a one skillet dish, Rosemary Chicken. It's simple: onions, potatoes, rosemary, chicken, butter, salt & pepper. It's so easy, but it's also so very delicious.
Mary: Anything new. I love cooking new recipes, and when I'm at restaurants, I love trying food and drinks with ingredients that I've never heard of.
